Address of House
Instructions and Help
Most of the appliances and equipment in the house are Japanese. We have labelled some of the main buttons in English, but if you have any trouble using the equipment, please contact us.
Safety Equipment
The house is equipped with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Please familiarize yourself with the locations of the fire extinguishers and the closest exits.
Emergencies
In the event of an emergency, please call
Ambulance 119
Fire 119
Police 110
This site has some useful information about calling the emergency services.
Please also contact us if you need assistance.
Trash
PLEASE help us be kind to the environment by separating your trash for recycling.
In Hakuba, trash must be separated into three kinds:
Cans and glass
Plastic PET drinks bottles (for extra eco-friendly points: remove caps and labels)
All other garbage
Your house may have only two bins inside, but please keep your garbage separated in three bags.
Place your trash outside in the designated box or bins. We will collect it regularly. Location: White metal box outside next to front door.
Please do not leave trash bags outside uncovered. Crows and foxes will spread them all over the place.
Parking and Snow Clearing
Car parking is available for guests during your stay. The parking space is located in front of the house.
Please do not park your car on the road at any time, as it is illegal, and also hinders the snowploughs from clearing snow.
From time to time, we will clear snow from the parking area. We may require you to move your car during this time, and we appreciate your cooperation.
Although we regularly keep the parking area clear of deep snow, when the Hakuba Village snowploughs clear the roads in the morning, they usually push some snow to the sides, sometimes blocking access to/from the parking area. You may need to shovel this aside. A shovel is provided near the entrance for this purpose.
If you or any children use or play with the snowclearing tools, like shovels, scoops etc., please always return them to their original location. If they become lost and buried in the snow, they can severely damage our snowblowers.
House Rules
No smoking inside the house. Please smoke outside on the deck. Please use the ashtray.
Please follow the Japanese custom of not wearing outdoor shoes inside the home. Take off your shoes at the entrance.
No skis or snowboards inside the house. Please leave skis and snowboards in the ski room (garage). Please enter through the garage door.
Amenities
We have supplied several complimentary amenities for use during your stay, including hand soap, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, dishwashing powder, washing up liquid, and laundry detergent, kitchen towels, and toilet paper. Should you run out of any of these items, please let us know.
Coffee
As a welcome gift, we have supplied a selection of complimentary coffee capsules for use in the Nespresso machine. Should you wish to purchase additional capsules, please contact us (¥1000 for a box of 10 capsules).
Cleaning and Linen Change
For stays of more than 7 nights, we will come in to clean the house and change linens and towels, on a day to be determined.
Deck FURNITURE and BBQ
From April to November, deck furniture and a BBQ are provided (Weber charcoal grill).
If it rains, please bring cushions etc. inside.
We do not provide charcoal, firestarter etc. You can purchase these at the local supermarket or home center (Komeri).
Please do not light campfires anywhere except in the fire pit provided at the back of the house.
Wildlife
There is a variety of wildlife in Hakuba and the surrounding mountains, including monkeys, kamoshika (Japanese serow), snakes, hornets, and bears! Although we are honored to share this beautiful environment with them, and most of them are harmless, please do respect the local wildlife and take sufficient precautions if exploring.
Do not leave any food outside unattended, and do not leave trash outside uncovered.
SKI STORAGE AND DRYING FACILITIES
Skis and snowboards are not allowed inside the house. Please leave skis and snowboards in the ski room (garage). Please enter through the garage door.
If it rains, please bring the cushions etc. inside.
You can hang up your jackets, gloves, hats etc. there to dry. A heater is provided.
Supermarket Shopping Trips
(Winter season only: December to March)
We offer trips to the supermarket a couple of times per week.
Your house is in Group C. Scheduled shopping days are: Wednesday, Saturday
Pick-up time: 17:00–17:15
To request a shopping trip, please fill out the request form by 3PM on the day, preferably one day before.
We pick up guests from a few houses and take everyone together. If you prefer to go shopping alone, we can help to organize a taxi.
Shuttle Buses
During the winter months (typically late December to mid-March), the ski resorts run shuttle buses to/from their resorts. They pick up at various locations close to the house. Please check this map for details and times.
Taxis
The taxi companies in Hakuba don’t deal well with English. You can try to call them, but if you have any trouble or need help, please contact us. Taxis can get very busy in the morning and evenings during the winter months and you may have to wait a while.
