The Chalet
Hakuba Aroboretum is an elegant new (2020) property carefully crafted to provide guests a home of unparalleled elegance and comfort in a secluded forest setting.
The result of a collaboration between the owner/designer and Hakuba Resort Homes, Hakuba Arboretum inspires intimacy between inhabitants and the natural environment. Strategically placed to harmonize with its surroundings, Arboretum’s oversized windows frame beautiful views of the neighbouring forest, in particular through the giant windows in the vaulted second floor living area. Traditional Japanese shou sugi ban charred cedar siding, unstained cedar ceilings, maple flooring, and hemlock entryway highlight the raw beauty of the woods. A curated collection of mid-twentieth century modern art completes the scene to give Hakuba Arboretum a vibrant contemporary vibe. The design is complemented by a modern kitchen, a dedicated ski drying/utility room, and a spacious second floor balcony. Underfloor heating and rainfall showers ensure guests the utmost comfort.
The chalet offers a dedicated ski drying/utility room, three double bedroom, and two bathrooms.
Hakuba Arboretum is located in a secluded patch of Misorano forest, yet is just a few minutes’ walk from lively shops, bars and restaurants of Echoland. The shuttle stop for free shuttle buses is also nearby, allowing guests to explore and enjoy all the major ski areas in the Hakuba valley. There is also room for car parking outside the chalet.
living AREAS
The living areas were carefully designed so that up to 6 guests can relax in comfort while enjoying views of the forest that surround the house on all sides. In winter, the landscape transforms into a pristine white scene. The lounge, dining area and kitchen are all in one large open space that is perfect for socialising whether cooking dinner, eating at the large dining table, or chilling in front of the large flat-screen TV.
The L-shaped kitchen is located at one side of the house, next to the covered deck, and has a full set of appliances, including a gas cooktop, combination microwave/oven, and a huge fridge/freezer. There are also a wide range of smaller electrical appliances such as a rice cooker, a coffee maker, a kettle and a toaster.
BEDROOMS
The three bedrooms are all located on the first floor downstairs, and are accessible from the center hallway. All bedrooms come with a comfortable king-sized bed that can be split into two single beds, allowing flexibility for couples and single guests alike.
BATHROOMS
The two bathrooms are also located downstairs, off the center hall. Both bathrooms are fully fitted with state-of-the-art Japanese toilets with washlets and heated seats, wash-stands and rainfall showers. The larger bathroom is also fitted with a deep bath for relaxation after a hard day on the slopes.
OUTDOOR FACILITIES
There is a spacious wooden deck upstairs, accessible from the dining area via the large sliding patio doors. Being covered, the deck offers a beautiful outdoor space for relaxing or dining in any weather.
At the back of the house, accessible from two bedrooms, is a larger hardwood deck with dining table and chairs and a BBQ for use in warmer months.
